Setting Up a Birthday Campaign

Firstly, we need to create a field in our list that will be used for the recipient’s birthday.

  • Click Audience
  • Click Lists
  • Click the List Name
  • Click Custom fields
  • Scroll to the bottom of the field and click on “Add date field”
  • Enter “Birthday” as the label and BIRTHDAY as the tag

Import your list with the birthdate for each recipient included in the following format: 1980-12-30

Segment Setup:

Once the import is completed, we will create a segment that will be essential for sending the birthday emails.

  • Click Audience
  • Click Lists
  • Click the List Name
  • Click Segments
  • Click Create new
  • Enter a Name “Birthday”
  • Click the +
  • Select the Birthday field create earlier
  • Enter “[BIRTHDAY]” in the Value field
  • Saves Changes
  • Click Show matching subscribers
  • If there are any subscribers that have matching birthdays on the current date it will show them.
  • We suggest that a dummy record is created in the list and just rechecking the segment to see if it works correctly

Now that we have the data ready, we can setup the recurring campaign

Campaign Setup:

  • Click Campaigns
  • Click Regular Campaigns
  • Click Create new
  • Add the Campaign Name
  • Choose the List you created the segment in
  • Choose the Segment in the dropdown on the right you create earlier
  • Click save and next
  • Add the subject line for the birthday campaign
  • Click Save and next
  • Setup the campaign using the drag and drop editor
  • Save and Review and Send
  • Update Send at and tick Advanced recurring select the time you would like this campaign to be sent daily
  • Click Schedule campaign
  • The campaign will be triggered when the time is reach and the segment returns any recipients
